Four HCDE students named in the 2022 Husky 100

Human Centered Design & Engineering students Alissa Acheson, Elizabeth Dunbar, Kenya Mejia, and IB Sobayo are named to the 2022 cohort of the Husky 100. This program annually recognizes 100 students across the UW's three campuses for their outstanding work and extracurricular achievements.

Human-Centered Data Science: An Introduction, a new book by HCDE Professor Cecilia Aragon, is out now through MIT Press. In the book, Aragon and co-authors Shion Guha, Marina Kogan, Michael Muller, and Gina Neff, explore best practices for addressing the bias and inequality that may result from the automated collection, analysis, and distribution of large datasets.

Alumnus Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, receives Engineering Diamond Award

HCDE alumnus Phil Spencer (BS '90) is the 2022 recipient of the College of Engineering Diamond Award in the category of Distinguished Achievement in Industry. Spencer is CEO of gaming at Microsoft, where he heads the Xbox brand and leads the global creative and engineering teams responsible for gaming at Microsoft.
