Students earn the Certificate in User-Centered Design upon successful completion of four of the six courses in the program: one autumn course, two in winter quarter, one in spring or summer quarter.
Most students complete the certificate within four quarters. Students are admitted to the program for a period of up to seven quarters (including summer quarter). In the event students do not complete necessary coursework within seven quarters, they can complete the program as a single course enrollee on a space available basis. To continue in the program and earn the certificate, participants are required to earn a grade of 2.7 or higher in each course, and to maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 (B or better).
In order to request a hard copy of the certificate, students must complete the following steps after grades have been posted on your transcript for your final quarter:
- Fill out the UCD Completion Form.
- Email the UCD Completion Form and an unofficial transcript (with all four applicable courses highlighted) as two attachments. Send to the HCDE Program Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) with "[YOUR NAME] UCD Certificate Completion" as subject line.
Your unofficial transcript is available for download by logging in to MyUW.
Students can expect to receive a hard copy of their certificate in the mail in approximately four weeks.
PCE hosts a reception to celebrate all certificate graduates annually in June. Contact the Alumni Community Manager (email@example.com) in PCE for more information.
