Julie Zhuying (HCDE MS '17) is a Staff UX Manager at Google, where she leads design for Gemini AI Security. Her work sits at the intersection of AI, Cloud, and user trust, defining the safety architectures that protect billions of users across the Google Workspace Product Suite and Gemini Surfaces. Since joining Google, she has established UX frameworks and strategies for major platforms including Workspace Platform Security, Cloud Capacity, and Kubernetes Engine. Julie speaks at industry events such as Google Cloud Next, KubeCon Asia, Grace Hopper, and Safer With Google. She has guest lectured at institutions including the University of Washington and City University of Hong Kong. Beyond her core role, she leads Google’s internal Design Sprint training series and actively mentors the next generation of design leaders. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the world through the eyes of her young daughter.
The UX Speaker Series is hosted Thursdays in winter quarter by the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington. Presentations are open to the public.
