CSCW 2025 -
Bergen, Norway

Attending CSCW 2025 was an incredibly valuable professional and scholarly experience. I presented a co-first-authored paper with my collaborator and fellow PhD student, Priya Dhawka, which was recognized with a Best Paper Award. Sharing this work with the broader CSCW community was both affirming and generative, sparking rich conversations about our research and its broader implications. I also co-organized a one-day workshop focused on strengthening community within the misinformation and disinformation research space, which brought together scholars working on related topics to exchange methods, challenges, and emerging directions for the field.

Beyond formal presentations, CSCW 2025 offered invaluable opportunities for community-building and networking. I was able to spend meaningful time with my colleagues and members of my advisor’s extended academic network, deepening existing relationships and forming new ones. Over several meals and informal gatherings, I met faculty and students from a wide range of institutions, which was especially beneficial as I begin preparing for the academic job market. These interactions provided mentorship, feedback, and perspective on future research directions and career trajectories.

Finally, attending paper sessions throughout the conference allowed me to engage deeply with cutting-edge CSCW research, spanning both familiar and adjacent areas. Exposure to this new work is already informing the framing of my general exam and helping me identify connections to my ongoing and future research projects. I also used this time to meet in person with collaborators from other universities, advancing ongoing projects and discussing new ideas. Overall, CSCW 2025 was an enriching and productive experience that meaningfully supported my professional growth, research agenda, and integration into the broader CSCW community.
