Samantha Speer is an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington.
Dr. Speer is an educator and researcher dedicated to designing, creating, and improving physical and digital technologies for interdisciplinary, collaborative learning. Her research explores how robotics can shape human experiences and lead to the development of humanistic skills such as collaboration and emotional regulation. Her teaching emphasizes tangible learning through collaborative and interdisciplinary project-based courses that provide meaningful, real-world educational experiences.
Speer holds a PhD and MS from the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from CMU.
