Laura Pina, PhD, explores designing, building, and evaluating mobile and ubiquitous technologies in the health space. In particular, her work expands the design lens from designing for an individual to addressing health at the family level. This implies designing health tracking technologies that address the collaboration and cooperative nature of families to enable tracking health at a family level. Her experience spans the entire cycle of development, starting from understanding unmet needs to creating technological solutions.

Laura is a Research Associate jointly appointed in Human Centered Design & Engineering working with Professor Julie Kientz and in Computer Science & Engineering working with Professor James Fogarty. Prior to joining the University of Washington, she completed her PhD in the department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of California at San Diego.
