Relationship to College of Engineering

At the University of Washington, the Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering is housed in the College of Engineering (COE). This positioning gives HCDE students the opportunity to closely collaborate with students in other engineering disciplines and take advantage of the research and design opportunities and facilities available to all engineers at the University of Washington. The UW College of Engineering is highly respected and specializes in research and student-centered learning. HCDE fits well into the COE: HCDE faculty collaborate with faculty in many COE departments on research projects and grants; HCDE manages the award-winning Engineering Communication Program.
