Seattle Times journalist Jayda Evans recently wrote about Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) Professor Kate Starbird's work at the University of Washington, as well as her previous career as a professional basketball player. Starbird completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University while playing basketball and was named the Naismith College Player of the Year in 1997. She proceeded to play professionally until 2006, when she returned to school to complete her PhD in Technology, Media and Society at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Starbird joined HCDE as a faculty member in 2012.
