The Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) is pleased to announce that Professor Julie Kientz is joining HCDE full-time. When she was hired in 2008, Kientz was appointed Assistant Professor jointly in HCDE and the Information School. Beginning July 1, Kientz will have a full appointment as an HCDE faculty member.
HCDE Department Chair Jan Spyridakis said, "We are extremely pleased to have Professor Kientz joining us at 100%—her dedication to the field, her research, and her work with students across campus are exciting, creative, and groundbreaking. HCDE students, faculty, and staff are thrilled by Julie's decision."
Kientz directs the Computing for Healthy Living and Learning Lab and is active in the dub Group alliance. Her research interests are in the areas of human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, and health informatics. In particular, she is interested in determining how novel computing applications can address important issues in health and education and evaluating those applications through long-term real world deployment studies using a balance of qualitative and quantitative methods.
