HCDE + Comics

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) students will have the opportunity to explore a different form of visual communication this quarter: comics. HCDE Associate Professor Charlotte P. Lee's new Directed Research Group will examine the process of communicating with sequential art in “Comics Made By You: Human Centered Design & Engineering for Everyone.” Students enrolled in this Directed Research Group will explore how comics can be used to convey complex ideas, concepts, and emotions as they draw and publish their own comic about what it means to do  Human Centered Design & Engineering.

This research group will be co-led by Lee and Jeremy Kayes, author of the book The Indies and Founder and Organizer of the Seattle Indie Comic and Game Artist (SICAGA) Meetup group. Kayes  has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University and works as a User Interface Developer.
