Haselkorn, Mays bring humanitarian response research to Europe

April 18, 2024

Human Centered Design & Engineering Professor Mark Haselkorn and PhD candidate Robin Mays are bringing their research in emergency response and humanitarian information systems to Europe this summer.

Mays, a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) at the University of Münster in Germany, recently presented a paper at the International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation, in Trondheim, Norway. The paper, co-authored with fellow HCDE PhD students Melissa Braxton, Andrew Berry, and John Robinson, looks at how practitioner-driven innovations in information systems can contribute to successful humanitarian work.

In July 2016, Haselkorn will give a presentation at the ERCIS Competence Center for Crisis Management on the relationship between Human Centered Designers and Software Developers in achieving state-of-the-art technology innovation.

While abroad, Haselkorn, Mays and HCDE PhD student Meg Drouhard will visit the Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen (HAN) University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands to discuss with researchers at the Centre IT + Media how HCDE and HAN can work collaboratively in the future.
