Daniela Rosner receives craft research grant

Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) Professor Daniela RosnerHuman Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) Professor Daniela Rosner has received a Craft Research Fund Grant from the Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design. Craft Research Fund Grants support innovative research on artistic and critical issues in craft theory and history, explore the inter-relationship among craft, art, design and contemporary culture, foster new cross-disciplinary approaches to scholarship in the craft field in America, and advance investigation of neglected questions in US craft history and criticism.

Rosner's grant will support "ethnographic fieldwork toward a journal article on the relation between engineering and craft practice in the work of maintenance and mending." Rosner's research combines design, computing, and fieldwork to reveal the social conditions and cultural values that shape and are shaped by digital technology.
