Kelly Franznick of Blink UX, an HCDE Corporate Affiliates Program member, recently visited the department of Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) to speak about physical computing in user experience (UX) research and design.
Senior Lecturer Andrew Davidson's class about physical computing studies the blending of hardware and software engineering — using microcontrollers, programming, sensors, electronic devices, wearable technology, etc. — to build interactive systems and environments. Franznick visited Davidson's class to share insights into how Blink UX uses physical computing in their UX practice. The class then experimented with a hands-on exercise using soldering to create electronic prototypes.
