Impact of "Official" Accounts on Rumor Correction

The latest research from HCDE Professor Kate Starbird, undergraduate student Yuwei Ding, and their collaborators in the department of Communication and the iSchool's DataLab, looks at how "official" sources of information impact both the spread and correction of rumors online.

Parents’ and Children’s Perspectives on Family Technology Rules

A study from HCDE PhD student Alexis Hiniker and Professor Julie Kientz is one of the first of its kind to ask children what technology rules they wish their parents would follow. This work was recently featured in multiple news outlets, including the New York Times, Time Magazine, and Good Morning America.

Doctor, Patient Expectations on Fitness and Lifestyle Tracking

A multidisciplinary team of UW researchers, including HCDE PhD students Christina Chung and Kristin Dew, and Professors Julie Kientz and Sean Munson, is studying how to make self-tracked health data more clinically useful and encourage better patient-provider collaboration.
