Evening Master of Science

LecturerThe MS in Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington fosters and advances students' knowledge and skills in the design and evaluation of information products, technologies, and user interfaces. In addition to cutting-edge coursework, students work closely with faculty on real-world projects and research questions.

The User-Centered Design Certificate in HCDE is a stand-alone graduate level certificate, or can be earned as part of the 41-credit MS degree. This four-course certificate focuses on user-centered design theories, skills, and practices, and gives students the opportunity to develop, evaluate, and test real-world user-centered design projects.

Both the MS and the UCD can be earned either in the day or in the evening programs.

HCDE MS and UCD students work side by side with award-winning yet approachable faculty on directed research projects, often taking a leadership role in these small teams. Research topics are updated quarterly and have included NSF-funded and NIH-funded work.

Located in Seattle, the University of Washington has a beautiful campus in the heart of the city. HCDE is housed in the College of Engineering, and benefits from the research traditions of a leading R1 institution. Microsoft, Google, Boeing, Adobe, and other prominent corporations have offices in the Pacific Northwest, making Seattle the perfect location from which to launch an exciting career.
