Our Mission
The Engineering Writing Center is dedicated to helping undergraduate engineering students at the University of Washington improve their writing skills through individual sessions with peer tutors. Peer tutoring is a process-centered approach that focuses on developing strong writing skills through discussion and discovery, rather than a product-centered approach involving editing or proofreading student papers.
Hours of Operation

Regrettabley, the EWC is currently closed due to budget constraints. The center will remain closed until further notice. Thank you for your support and understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience.

There are other writing centers and resources available to assist you with your writing needs. The information for two of those centers is listed below.

Odegaard Writing and Research Center
Odegaard's writing center serves undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines. Like the EWC, Odegaard Writing Center takes a process-centered approach to writing. The center is located in Room 326 in the Odegaard Undergraduate Library. This center can be reached by phone at 206.221.0972 ext. 273. CLUE (The Center for Learning and Undergraduate Enrichment) Writing Center
This center serves undegraduate students in all disciplines. CLUE is staffed by undergradutate students, graduate students, and instructors. CLUE is located at MGH Commons and Gateway Center (MGH 171). There most updated hours of operation are posted at their location. Located across from Mary Gates Hall and the HUB. Take the elevator or stair up to the 4th floor and keep straight on the hallway directly in front of you. We are a couple of doors past the HCDE office.
